Our Team

Homework Tutoring CalgaryJulie Butler, Program Director hails to Calgary from the UK. She was searching for the “perfect” opportunity to utilize 27 years of elementary school teaching and administration when she found Summit Kids. Julie is now our resident accreditation expert looking forward to leading our 2nd campus to industry excellence. Contact Julie at Turn on JavaScript!

Calgary School ProgramFaryl Kates, Creative Director is an ECE graduate from George Brown College in Toronto. After years away from the childcare field we’ve been able to woo her back—which wasn’t a difficult choice after meeting our kids and seeing our program in action. Faryl’s true passion is dramatic arts. Faryl splits her time between both UES Campus & WOM Campus – leading our multi-aged groups in many types of child-lead performances and inspiring all children to find their “inner” actor. Children Fun LearningCatherine Milloy, Program Leader Catherine brings over a decade of childcare experience to her role at Summit Kids. Years of pre-school teaching, play-based and literacy program development make her the perfect Leader for our half-day Kindergarten Enhancement Program. When Catherine is not on campus with our children, she enjoys her time with her young granddaughter. We are proud to announce Catherine’s recent nomination for the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education. Winners for this prestigious award will be announced Spring 2011. Her arts & crafts repertoire rivals that of Martha Stewart and she is looking forward to cooking up great things in our newly launched SK Chef’s Club. Contact Lisa at Turn on JavaScript!

Sophie Tiefenbacher, Program Leader We are fortunate to have Sophie’s varied background. Not only does Sophie lead our W.O. Mitchell Kindergarten Enhancement Program utilizing her Bachelor of Education, but she is also our resident dance expert. With a Major in Contemporary Dance, followed by extensive studies in London, England, Sophie is just the professional to lead movement groups at SK Campuses. Contact Sophie at Turn on JavaScript!

Barb Losie, Program Leader After 25 years as a Special Needs Teacher for the Edmonton School District, Barb decided to retire in Calgary. Fortunately for everyone at Summit Kids we were able to lure Barb out of her early retirement to bring her vast portfolio of projects to our Campus. Barb’s collaborative approach to teaching makes her a great addition to our Leadership Team. Contact Barb at Turn on JavaScript!

Rachel Yellowega, Program Leader Miss Rachel is new to Out-of-School Care, but it is her desire for a career as an educator that brought her to Summit Kids. She is a 1st-Year MRU Education Student and already has some valuable teaching experience gained through her summer of 2010 in Fiji on a VESA (Volunteer Eco Students Abroad) project. Rachel is a Second Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and teaches her discipline to interested participants at WOM & UES Campuses. Contact Rachel at Turn on JavaScript!
