Inclusion
It is our aspiration to include all children within our programs and services. Summit Kids takes a holistic approach to the inclusion process. We are committed to working with parents, the school, as well as community partners and professionals to enhance our ability to support all children with their individual needs. We are accountable and respectful of confidentiality and communications are sensitive, inclusive and non discriminatory. Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary team of leaders is flexible in their approach and our programming is reflective of the varying needs of our children. When appropriate and possible, we will embed therapeutic strategies into our program in an effort to provide continuity from other programs a child may be involved with.
Powerful Programming
Children are encouraged to share their interests and activity ideas with us so that we may incorporate them in our daily choices. We provide a wide variety of learning tools, creative supplies and recreation opportunities for your child to choose from. Activities are posted regularly on our information board. When possible, we provide opportunities to explore our community and special guests to share their expertise. All activities are modified as needed to accommodate the different needs and abilities of the children. We offer a number of enhancement programs to help support social and personal growth opportunities for your child. Enhancement programs currently offered include, but are not limited to, dance, taekwondo, drama & theatre productions, imaginative workshops, and recreational programming. These programs have been designed in partnership with children and team leaders. We are always looking for new ideas to incorporate into our program that will help children develop and enhance skills and embrace ongoing community involvement.
Our regular program components include "Summit Launch" - our kindergarten extended day enhancement program as well as a variety of out-of-school time options for Grades 1-6. Our day camps which run on non-instructional school days include community outings, sports & recreation & special guests. We encourage multi-aged groups and leadership opportunities for our senior members.
Summit Launch - Kindergarten Extended Day Enhancement Program
This incomparable program provides your child with a qualified teacher who transfers learning from the school classroom to our classroom in a fun and positive way. Children participate in circle time, story time, lunch and snack times, as well as a wide variety of arts and crafts, recreational and outdoor activities, games, and classroom learning.
